Meet Connor Woods, an awesome 22 year old Sales Executive with the team here at KBS. During the summer of 2022, Connor had a very unfortunate accident that has changed his life dramatically.
Connor’s mother – Claire Woods tells us more about that difficult time.
‘On the 14th August 2022 Connor had an extremely unfortunate accident that has left him without the use of his arms or legs. He has been on a remarkable journey after 79 days in the critical care unit of the RVH he then spent 46 days in the spinal ward before moving to Musgrave Park. Despite his challenges Connor is determined to return to work with KBS to be independent and live life to the full each and every day.
Connor has been an athlete all his life joining Banbridge hockey club at just 3 years old, he played football and rugby through his school years, and since then for Banbridge and Dromore RFC, he swam competitively for Banbridge swimming club and in the summer was a fanatical cricketer for Donacloney Cricket Club. He loved nothing more than a round of golf, and in fact played a round the morning of his accident.
Agriculture and especially the machinery side of the industry has been a passion of Connor since he made silage in a garden as a toddler. He has now developed this into a machinery sales business as well as helping his brother Rory on his dairy farm.
As an independent, sporty, outdoor person Connor’s needs to be able to travel to work, go and watch sport and, most importantly, get out and about the farm. Maintaining independence is very important and the ability to live life to the full despite of circumstances.’
To say we were shocked to learn what had happened to Connor, is simply an understatement.
Since Connor’s accident we have been amazed at the attitude with which he has approached his recovery, he is a truly remarkable young lad! The family have mentioned if they had access to a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) it would make a huge difference to them and as we’d like to do as much as we can to help.
We want to help make this happen. We want to purchase a WAV for Connor as our target… Hence Connor’s Wheels has been created!!
On the 25th of June 2023, we will have our first fundraiser which will be to complete a half marathon walk from Bangor to Titanic Belfast. We’d love you help us achieve our target for Connor and give this bright, charming and enthusatic character the chance to gain more independence and mobility.
All donations can made through the justgiving page
Any size of donation is welcome, please spread the word and if you can help fundraise for Connor in any shape or form, we’d love to hear from you. Connor is our hero!! Let’s make this happen for him.
Thanks for reading.
